1. Statement of Intent
RoboThink is committed to providing a safe, healthy, and supportive environment for all children, staff, and visitors involved in our programmes. We adhere to all relevant health and safety legislation including the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
2. Responsibilities
We take a proactive approach to health and safety by:
- Conducting regular risk assessments for all venues and activities
- Ensuring all staff are trained in emergency procedures and basic first aid
- Maintaining appropriate ratios of trained staff to children
- Ensuring equipment is safe, age-appropriate, and regularly inspected
- Complying with venue-specific fire safety and evacuation procedures
3. Venue Safety
Before each programme or session:
- The space is inspected for hazards
- Fire exits are checked and kept clear
- First aid kits and incident report forms are accessible
- Sign-in/sign-out processes are confirmed with school or site managers
4. Equipment & Materials
All RoboThink kits and materials are checked for safety and functionality. Activities are planned to minimise risk, and staff supervise all tool and equipment use closely.
5. Hygiene & Infection Control
We promote high standards of hygiene through:
- Hand-washing or sanitising before and after sessions
- Cleaning and sanitising kits between uses
- Following NHS and PHE guidance during any outbreaks (e.g., COVID-19)
6. First Aid & Emergencies
- At least one member of staff on-site is first aid certified at all times
- All accidents or incidents are recorded and communicated to parents/carers as required
- Emergency contacts are kept securely in our system and accessible to staff
7. Review and Training
- Health and safety training is part of staff onboarding
- Policies and procedures are reviewed annually and after any serious incident
- Staff receive termly updates on key safety procedures
