Behaviour Policy Summary

1. Purpose
At RoboThink, we aim to create a positive, respectful, and safe environment where every child can thrive. This policy sets out the behavioural expectations for children attending our programmes and how we respond to behaviour that may challenge safety, learning, or wellbeing.
2. Our Approach to Behaviour
We promote a values-led culture based on:
- Respect for others and their ideas
- Cooperation, teamwork, and kindness
- Listening to instructors and following instructions
- Taking care of equipment, space, and each other
We understand that children learn and express themselves differently. Staff use proactive strategies, encouragement, and empathy to support positive behaviour.
3. Behaviour Expectations
Children are expected to:
- Follow the club rules explained at the start of each session
- Speak kindly and act respectfully toward peers and staff
- Use materials and equipment safely and responsibly
- Stay within the supervised space unless given permission
- Raise their hand or ask an adult if unsure, upset, or needing help
4. Supporting Positive Behaviour
Staff are trained to:
- Use praise and positive reinforcement
- Model respectful and calm communication
- De-escalate potential conflicts using calm, clear steps
- Support children in reflecting and learning from their actions
5. When Behaviour Is Unsafe or Disruptive
We may use the following steps depending on the nature of the behaviour:
- Verbal reminder and redirection
- One-on-one support or short reflection time
- Contacting the parent/carer after the session
- Formal meeting with parents if the behaviour is ongoing or severe
- Exclusion from a session or programme if safety is at risk
This is always handled with care and in line with our safeguarding policies.
6. Bullying, Discrimination, or Aggressive Behaviour
RoboThink has a zero-tolerance policy for:
- Bullying (physical or verbal)
- Discrimination (race, gender, disability, etc.)
- Aggressive, threatening, or intentionally harmful behaviour
Any such incidents will be recorded and escalated to senior staff and may result in immediate removal from the programme.
7. Partnership With Parents
We believe working with families is essential. If we have behavioural concerns, we’ll contact you to work together on a positive plan. We also encourage parents to share any relevant information that may help us support their child effectively.
